Danish citizens have been using GIS as a means of communication and interaction with local governments and the state for a number of years. Central and local governments in Denmark have been implementing a number of GIS solutions to elevate the service level and accuracy of decisions by integrating administrative systems and electronic document handling with GIS. This is done to raise the level of service provided to citizens as well as to enhance the quality of municipal case work. At the same time, central governments expose a wide array of data and services, free of charge.
This session will explore a number of GIS tools, how they operate and the contribution of this tools to the GIS community. We’ll explore how the GIS community in Denmark is transitioning from using a desktop environment to being operational in the Cloud. You’ll see demonstrations of both desktop and web solutions with a focus on the impact of MapInfo Stratus as the central tool and how PBBI has supported e-government initiatives in Denmark.
