Session Description:
Affirmative action policies have been instrumental in promoting diversity in educational institutions and workplaces. This panel aims to consider the multifaceted ramifications of the Supreme Court's affirmative action decision, exploring its impact on higher education, workforce diversity, and the broader diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility conversation. The panel will explore the impact on enrollment patterns and demographic representation in statistics and biostatistics programs and the ability of institutions to foster inclusive learning environments. The discussion will extend beyond higher education and will consider how the decision impacts diversity initiatives and employment practices. Finally, the panel will consider how viewing these issues through a statistical lens can inform policy and counter misinformation.
NOTE that David Morgenstein has been invited as a panelist, but has not yet accepted. He will be added to the panel, if he accepts the invitation.
