Session Description:

Douglas Zahn was a Professor of Statistics at Florida State University from 1969 until his retirement in 2005. In addition to publishing his research, he recognized early in his career the importance of non-technical skills important in both consulting and mentoring. He shared his knowledge in a book called "The Human Side of Statistical Consulting" co-authored with James Boen, in video and video-based coaching methods that are now used widely in educating statistical consultants, and through mentoring numerous statisticians. He was the inaugural winner of the ASA WJ Dixon Award for Excellence in Statistical Consulting and his work influenced much of the Statistical Consulting Section of the ASA.
