Session Description:
Astrostatistics is an active disciplinary field encompassing many areas of statistical science. In recent years the development and deployment of sophisticated statistical methods in astrophysics has led to, for example: the discovery and characterization of exoplanets, a better understanding of the Milky Way and other galaxies, and more precise estimates of the fundamental constants which govern the formation and evolution of our universe. In this session, the finalists of the 2024 Astrostatistics Interest Group Student Paper Competition will present their astrostatistics work, and the competition winner will be announced. (This is the designated ASA Astrostatistics Interest Group session.)
