Statistics is key to solving urgent problems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). However, many countries have limited statistical capacity, lacking human resources, infrastructure, and systems to leverage statistics for the public good. In this roundtable, we will discuss: What are strategies that can build statistical capacity in LMICs sustainably? What concrete initiatives can professional societies in high income countries pursue to build statistical capacity globally? Where does justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) fit in? The goal is to generate a list of recommendations to share widely with statistical societies.
