Session Description:

The AI revolution is rapidly transforming the landscape of data analysis, posing substantial challenges for statisticians as they navigate their careers. The integration of AI across the private sector, government, and academia demands that statisticians adapt to new analytical methods, which can feel overwhelming to those rooted in traditional statistical practice. However, these challenges also present exciting opportunities. This four-person panel, consisting of representatives from the ASA's Committee on Data Science and AI (Brian Vegetabile, LinkedIn), Committee on Career Development (Nathan Cruze, NASA), Caucus of Industry Representatives (Steve Sain, Jupiter Intelligence, Chair-elect of CIR), and Caucus of Academic Representatives (Jeffrey Morris, University of Pennsylvania, Chair of CAR), will explore how statisticians can overcome these challenges, capitalize on emerging opportunities, and strategically shape their career trajectories in an AI-driven world. All four ASA committees/caucuses will co-sponsor the panel (despite the limitation of the session builder in selecting only three co-sponsors). The discussion will feature a mix of prepared questions for the panelists and audience participation.
