The field of biostatistics is rapidly evolving, driven by advances in data science, computing, and the growing demand for data-driven decision-making in healthcare and biomedical research. Graduate programs are critical for equipping the next generation of biostatisticians with the skills and knowledge needed to meet that demand. However, these programs face significant challenges and opportunities that require strategic action.
This panel will convene Chairs and Directors from leading biostatistics programs to discuss these challenges and identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation. The discussion will explore how programs can adapt to technological changes, expand capacity while maintaining quality, and prepare students for a rapidly evolving job market. It will also address the distinct issues faced by biostatistics programs within schools of public health versus those in medical centers, highlighting their differences in focus, resources, and student training.
As the field evolves, graduate programs must shape the future of biostatistics education. This panel offers a timely platform for leaders to share insights, best practices, and actionable strategies to ensure their programs – and our profession – remain at the forefront of education and scientific research.
