The genetic makeup of an infectious agent can affect important parameters of infectious disease models. Therefore, considering the evolution of infectious diseases can be critical for forecasting epidemic spread and understanding the underlying transmission dynamics. This roundtable will discuss novel methods that leverage the vast database of pathogen sequencing data in transmission models, as well as the applications of these methods to real-world data.
