As AI continues to transform the landscape of data-driven decision-making, statisticians face both challenges and opportunities in adapting to this rapidly evolving field. This roundtable will explore how statisticians can survive and thrive in the era of AI, leveraging their expertise in rigorous modeling, uncertainty quantification, and interpretability to complement and enhance AI-driven methods. Discussions will focus on the evolving role of statistics in AI, strategies for integrating statistical thinking into modern machine learning workflows, and pathways for statisticians to lead in the development of trustworthy and ethical AI systems. Special attention will be given to the challenges and opportunities presented by diverse data types, including genetics/genomics, imaging, electronic health records (EHR), and text data, and diverse problems of interest, and how statisticians can contribute to advancing AI-driven analytics across these domains.
