The Trump administration has issued executive orders and other policies that are affecting how statistical work is done, not just in the government but also in academics and industry. These new developments are being closely followed by the American Statistical Association and other allied professional societies. Our community needs to identify our best response to the widespread shutdown of key statistical infrastructure in government, the new policies on university research, and the potential impact of tariffs, deregulation, and general uncertainty upon different industry sectors. To address these points, we have four speakers: Kathy Ensor, past-president of the ASA, who will speak on academic matters; Katherine Heller, at Google, who will speak on the impact on industry; Hormuzd Katki, formerly at NIH, who will discuss the Policy Impact on Intramural NIH Research; and Steve Pierson, the policy director of the ASA.
